Running in the Calgary Marathon with Cassie + Friends
Westland Insurance was excited to participate in the Cassie + Friends community run and walk in Calgary this year! Hosted in tandem with the Calgary Marathon event on Saturday, May 24, 2025, there were thousands in attendance.
As an official charity partner of Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink (BFK), a non-profit program run by the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation, all donations to this Cassie + Friends event were matched up to 50%. Through this support, Team Cassie + Friends Calgary raised an outstanding $32,861.30 with a total of 48 runners! This means that every step and every dollar raised helps kids and families affected by Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.
Following the run, Westland joined participants to meet up for a Celebration Brunch. This was hosted at Maisie Eatery in Calgary’s brand new Culture and Entertainment district. Here, families, kids and sponsors got to mingle and celebrate the team successes.
Westland has been a proud sponsor of Cassie + Friends in Canada since 2009 and a national partner since 2022. Cassie + Friends is the only charity in Canada dedicated 100% to the pediatric rheumatic disease community. Along with their mission, we value their championing of research, education, connection and support. As well, we always look forward to participating in future Cassie + Friends events that will help strengthen and amplify communities.
